All Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Higher Education (HE) Providers are expected to have registered and accredited with Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) by the 2nd December 2018 as per the Botswana Qualifications Authority (Registration and Accreditation of Education and Training Providers)(Amendment) Regulations, 2017. The amendments are available on the BQA Website (

Therefore, BQA reminds all Education and Training Providers (ETPs) whose registration expires on or before 2nd December 2018 to apply. ETPs whose registration is valid beyond 2nd December 2018 are advised to submit variances during the transition period to ensure compliance to the new Requirements. Please note that this submission does not extend the ETP’s validity period.

The regulatory provision requires that ETPs apply for renewal of registration and accreditation at least six (6) months before expiry. Section 12 (1) of The Botswana Qualifications Authority (Registration and Accreditation of Education and Training Providers) Regulations, 2016 provides that: “An education and training provider who wishes to remain registered and accredited shall, at least six months before the period of registration and accreditation expires, apply for renewal of registration and accreditation.”
